SOUTH KEY
Location

As the only section of Longboat Key to be located entirely in Sarasota County, residents of South Key enjoy convenient access to the Resort at Longboat Key Club, downtown Sarasota, Lido Key and Siesta Key. The New Pass Bridge also provides easy access to St. Armands Circle, a posh collection of shops, boutiques and restaurants. Or if residents don’t feel like crossing the bridge to grab a bite to eat, they can enjoy the popular Chart House or Dry Dock Waterfront Grill right on the Key, both boasting beautiful waterfront views.

FUN FACT In 1926, John Ringling decided to build a super deluxe hotel in South Key, where the present Chart House Restaurant exists. He declared it would be the “finest in the State of Florida” and be a part of the Ritz Carlton franchise. Shortly after construction began, the land boom bubble burst and construction came to a halt. The abandoned structure sat vacant for 38 years before it was torn down. The historic failed hotel made its way into the 2016 American crime film, "Live by Night".
